Flat Stanley wasn't my idea. Flat Stanley is a 1964 children's book by Jeff Brown, where our young hero is accidentally flattened by a bulletin board improperly hung by his father over his bed. Flat Stanley learns that there are a lot of things he can't do since he's flat, but he also finds out that there are certain advantages to being flat. And the best part is that he can be mailed anywhere in the world.
Inspired by this story, Dale Hubert started The Flat Stanley Project in 1995. For 15 years, Flat Stanleys of all shapes and sizes have made their way around the world.
Thanks to my niece, Alisann, I have this new, awesome travel partner.
