While we'd done a lot of fun stuff in Boston, I really wanted to something special for the guy on his last night here. So I thought I'd show him a night on the town. We headed down to Boston on the bus and got off by the reflecting pool. I thought Flat Stanley would love to see the city reflected in the pool. But when we got there, we found out there was no water!
"Oh no, Roro," exclaimed Flat Stanley. "What do you think happened to all the water? Do you think Sponge Bob Square Pants came by and absorbed all the water? Or maybe a really thirsty elephant came and sucked it all up!!!"
"Actually, Flat Stanley," I replied. "I think that they just empty it during the winter so it doesn't freeze."
"I don't know, Roro. I think it was probably an elephant. Maybe we should try to find him."
While in search of the very full elephant, Flat Stanley spotted some students.
"Roro," whispered Flat Stanley. "All those people have guitars and stuff. Is that a band?"
"No," I told him. "Those are students at Berklee College of Music. They're studying so that they might one day be in a band."
"Oh my!" exclaimed Flat Stanley. "This is the best thing ever! I love music!"
"Well if you love music, you're going to love where we're going, Flat Stanley. The Boston Pops Symphony Hall!"
"Wow," said Flat Stanley. "I've never been to a symphony hall before."
"Well," I said, "let's go inside!"
"Wow, Roro," yelled Flat Stanley. "This is so awesome!"
"I'm glad you like it, but you're going to have to sit down in your seat."
"Okay," Flat Stanley sulked.
After watching the performance, we walked back down the street toward home. Flat Stanley was very happy about the evening and a bit lost in his own thoughts. Then he said to me, "Roro, I think that I want to go to college at the Berklee College of Music so that I can be in a band that plays at Symphony Hall."
"Well, that's a great plan," I told him.
"Either that, or I'm going to go to elephant college so I can learn how to find that elephant who stole all the water from the reflecting pool!"
